Everyone’s An Artist was inspired by my friends and family who inspire me, and their individual talents. Reflecting on those relationships filled me with a deep sense of gratitude, and revealed how creativity is woven into our everyday experiences.
My education and career in Therapeutic Art greatly influenced my children’s book. As Program Coordinator for Art for Healing, I facilitate bedside art, creative support groups, and community workshops with patients across Hartford Healthcare. I remind people of the many ways they’re artistic. After a little encouragement, they’re often surprised by the meaning they find through the process.
Through diverse illustrations and heartfelt displays of connection, Everyone’s and Art represents children and adults of all ages, showcasing a wide range of interests. The story embraces the belief that art-making is for everyone regardless of age, race, or ability.
This book is dedicated to my mom, Virginia Ann, and was written to honor her legacy as well as my own. At its heart, Everyone’s An Artist is a joyful reminder that creativity belongs to all of us.
